Traditional Craft Saturdays

Explore a series of Vermont crafts – their history, process, and uses – through informal learning and discovery.  A different craft will be featured each week.

Saturday, September 7

Woodworking with Ross Morgan from Craftsbury, VT.  Ross will demonstrate the steps and techniques involved in working with a large piece of wood while cutting, filing, steaming, drying, and shaping it into axe handles, split shingles, and a snath (the curved handle of a scythe).
     Saturday, September 14
Rug Braiding with Delsie Hoyt, West Fairlee, VT.  Delsie will encourage visitors to try their hand braiding rugs, as she demonstrates her considerable skills.  A sampling of Delsie’s rugs (like “Moon Dog,” shown below) also will be on display.
 

Saturday, September 21

Natural Wool Dyeing with Kristin Husher, Williston, VT.  Discover the process required for dyeing wool with natural materials.  Kristin will demonstrate scouring and dyeing wool shorn from one of the farm’s Southdown ewes.
 
             Saturday, September 28 Tinsmithing with John Peterson, Otter Creek Tinware, Brandon, VT.  John will demonstrate making both functional and decorative tinware, focusing on the late 19th century, when numerous household utensils, storage containers, and lighting devises were made of tin.

A Woodstock tradition for 16 years!  This season’s Annual Mozart Festival, led by celebrated violist Scott Woolweaver, will highlight a selection of Mozart masterpieces and will close, as always, with the mysterious and powerful Ave Verum Corpus.   The ensemble also features John Lindsey, violin; Michael Dabroski, violin; Peter Sulski, viola; and Karen Kaderavek, cello.

Program includes:

  • Serenade No. 13 in G Major (“Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”), K. 525 (1787)
  • Viola Quintet in D Major, K. 593 (1790)
  • Ave Verum Corpus, K. 618 (1791)

Stroll through Woodstock’s historic village green set with artist from Vermont and New England. Featuring local musicians, hand-blown glass, photography, water colors, oils, pastels and pottery make up this delightful art show that also features Vermont wineries for tastings. If you would like to vend please call the office at 457-3555. If you want to shop we will see you September 7 & 8 from 10-5 and 10-4. Come early and stay for lunch.

Antique Tractor Day
Sunday, August 11
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Tractors made between 1930 and the 1960s will be displayed by the talented folks who restored them. The tractor parade at 1:00 p.m., includes restoration details and historical information. Tractor-drawn wagon rides and tractor activities for children, including the popular tractor sandbox, will be available throughout the event.
